Maybe you've heard the phrase about March, "in like a lion, out like a lamb." My tropical sensibilities are hoping that is true. While it was fun to see snow, sleet, freezing rain, ice .... I will be happy to wear short sleeves again, read a book outside, and take a walk without a heavy coat.
I also look forward to all the science investigations and observations that will take place outdoors. Many "Sharing the planet" units have been saved for April, May, and June so students can grow plants, test water purity, go on scavenger hunts for living/nonliving things, make art from nature - it is going to be fabulous! Parents, please listen for stories about this fun learning. Ask questions and imitate experiments at home.
What else does Spring bring? What science is all around us? The outdoors are where curiosity and inquiry are nurtured and inspired. Teachers love to hear how students inquire at home. Families, please share about your weekends. When your children find interesting objects or notice intriguing phenomena, take a picture, send an email or a drawing. We want to see what makes students WONDER.
